AFC079 African Collection & Exhibit

19th century beaded medicine purse with Czech glass seed beads woven in circular fashion, face in center, indial motifs on fabric squares. Most of the elements in this tribal pouch came originally from trade with Europeans and far Eastern sources. The backing was salvaged from military gear, probably British or French, sometime around 1790-1820. The cord was braided from powder ties.
