Slicked and polished white polychrome painted wooden carving of a woman with blackened nipples and aureloae and feet was probably used as a fertility fetish. Mud and pigmments were often applied to the body for ritual purposes including child-catching and childbirth, peace dances, war dances and tribal competitions. 9" tall, circa 1850.
